Shopify seems to be a pretty woke company lately, and the news for today is that our favorite e-commerce platform that powers more than 1.7 million webstores worldwide announced their Black Fashion Accelerator.
What’s that, you asked? Well, to put it simply, it’s a program aimed at helping only black business owners in the fashion industry.
So, if you’re black, you automatically qualify for Black Fashion Accelerator, and as soon as you apply for this feature, the AFROPUNK and Shopify Black Fashion Accelerator will source 9 successful fashion entrepreneurs from the AFROPUNK community to help you take advantage of this important growth and mentorship opportunity.
The program starts on January 22 2022, and over a 6 month period, AFROPUNK and Shopify will tell their entrepreneurial stories, whatever that means. More precisely, the program is designed to provide tools, actionable business learnings and resources to black entrepreneurs, helping them supercharge their success and make it more accessible for everyone, by stimulating what they describe as the black economy for a more resilient future or whatever.
The program will conclude with a fashion show on Juneteenth in New York City, where each participant will present a collection of their work. Upon completion of the program, each participant will receive a $5,000 grant.Applications open today and will close on November 14, 2021. To apply, visit https://bit.ly/3uLmcCc. Please note that participants must be 18 years of age or older, must be based in the United States, must be an incorporated fashion business for at least three months, and majority (50%+) owned by a Black founder to apply.
