According to a recent report in Business Insider, Shopify has beaten Amazon (its Nemesis, well, kind of) in online traffic (not in sales), which is a notable metric all things considered.
As per a Similarweb study, a market-research firm, all the Shopify-powered merchants/websites surpassed Amazon for unique visitors in the last quarter of 2021.
According to Shopify internal data, Shopify powered sites averaged 1.16 billion unique visitors on a monthly basis between April and June the current year, compared to Amazon’s measly 1.1 billion.
We are only kidding, of course, but the gap is expected to increase in the 4th quarter of 2021. This is very interesting news for Shopify shareholders, as Shopify is a big contender for Amazon, as both companies allow merchants to sell online from their e-platforms.
However, in terms of sales figures, Amazon plays in a completely different league: Amazon’s second-quarter 2021 results brought about its third $100 billion quarter in a row with more than $113 billion in revenue, while Shopify announced its first-ever $1 billion revenue quarter this year.
